The band has been determined to continue to entertain its audiences since the closure of the local colliery. The band has a wide and varied concert repertoire and its concerts appeal to everyone’s musical taste.

The band’s Musical Director, Eliot J Darwin, has been with them for over 14 years and under his directorship and hard work from the players, has seen the Dodworth Colliery Band picking up many awards, including two first places in the Yorkshire Brass Band Championships and a 1st place in the National Championships 2006.

Alongside its many concert appearances Dodworth Colliery Band has featured in several broadcasts for BBC Radio Sheffield and recorded music featured on Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s “River Cottage” TV series. The band has also recorded “B” sides for the London based “Indie” band the “Maccabees” which were released on vinyl. The latest CD recording from the band “Power and the Passion” features artwork kindly provided by Yorkshire artist Ashley Jackson.
