Dr. Simon Lindley conducts Haydn’s great masterpiece for orchestra, soloists and chorus.

Sheffield Bach Choir begin their 68th season with Haydn's Creation, with members of Doncaster Choral Society, soloists Kristina James, Paul Dutton and Quentin Brown, organist Alan Horsey and Sally Robinson’s acclaimed National Festival Orchestra.

This marvellous work tells the story of the Creation - of course it does! - with solo parts for Adam and Eve and three archangels – Gabriel, Raphael and Uriel. There are spectacular movements illustrative of the appearance on earth of the various animals as well as one of the most extraordinary preludes in the whole of classical music – what Haydn entitled “The Representation of Chaos”, from which everything unfolds.

Simon Lindley, conductor
Alan Horsey, organist
Kristina James - soprano
Paul Dutton - tenor
Quentin Brown - bass
