Composer, producer, and percussionist Sarathy Korwar joins Associate Artist John Ball on tabla and santoor to kick off our whistle-stop-tour around a world of music. Resonant melodies and jazz influences combine in Sarathy Korwar’s writing, along with the voices of Four Tet, Floating Points and Gilles Peterson who have all mentored this innovative musician.

Growing up in India he began playing tabla at 10 but was also drawn to the American music that he heard on the radio and that leaked through the doorway of his local jazz music shop. His celebrated first album, Day To Day, was released on Ninja Tune in 2016 and fuses traditional folk music of the Sidi community in India (combining East African, Sufi and Indian influences) with jazz and electronics.

Sarathy Korwar (percussion), John Ball (santoor, tabla), Tama Osborn (baritone saxophone, flute), Giuliano Modarelli (guitar) and Domenici Angarano (bass)
