Meet the musicians 4: Bohemia
Members of Ensemble 360 turn their attention to central Europe and, specifically, the Czech regions of Bohemia and Moravia. The influence of folk music is readily acknowledged by Dvořák in his portrayal of the Bohemian Forest and by Janáček’s folk-style representation of animals encountered in his youth. Even though Martinů strayed far from home, emigrating to America, there is an enticing blend of jazz-like rhythms and a dash of Czech folk music in his captivating Trio.
