Chamber Folk Strings Day
A day of folk-led collaboration for players of bowed string instruments.
Outstanding folk musicians Sam Sweeney and Miranda Rutter lead this one-off workshop, using English folk music to introduce participants to new ideas and thinking around making chamber music in an organic and spontaneous way.
The workshop is open to all active players of bowed string instruments with experience or interest in small-group music-making. It will be accessible for players from all musical backgrounds, regardless of your experience of English folk music traditions. Participants will be sent some simple folk melodies to learn to play from memory in advance, which will form the basis of the day.
