Live music with sensory elements for young children and their grown-ups

Join Tim Smedley (cello), Annabelle Lawson (piano) and Polly Ives (cello) for a concert including music by Mendelssohn, Shostakovich and Vivaldi. With bubbles, percussion, props and informal introductions, this is a fun and informal gig for adults and their young children.

Tim performs and records regularly with orchestras such as the Hallé, Manchester Camerata, RLPO and CBSO. He also plays on period instruments with ensembles including the Orchestra of the Age of the Enlightenment, Arcangelo, the Academy of Ancient Music and The King's Consort. He regularly plays as principal cello with the Northern Chamber Orchestra and has also worked extensively with leading string quartets such as the Fitzwilliam Quartet and the Saconni Quartet. Alongside his performing career, Tim is Head of Strings at King's College School, Wimbledon and lives happily in Greystones with his wife Rachel and three young children. Together (or usually, when Tim is off doing a concert elsewhere), they are regular attendees of Concerteenies!

Annabelle Lawson has gained a reputation as one of the most dynamic and enterprising musicians of her generation. She has performed extensively and internationally in venues including Wigmore Hall and Southbank Centre, has broadcast for BBC Radio 3 and national Australian radio and has released a critically acclaimed CD of new commissions with the Lawson Trio. Annabelle teaches at the Royal Academy of Music in London, as well as examining for the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, performing with the Lawson Trio and organising educational workshops and school showcase concerts as Artistic Director of Chamber Music 2000. She also curates and performs at the new Sheffield concert series 'in:spire'.

Polly Ives, who runs Concerteenies, joins Tim and Annabelle to perform a movement of Vivaldi's Two Cello Concerto. As a cellist, Polly performs regularly with Simply Strings Trio and Escafeld String Quartet and as a freelancer performing, recording, backing with bands, including previous appearances alongside Bryn Terfel on BBC's Billionnaire Boy, Channel 4's Transmission with Richard Hawley and Stars in their Eyes!!!
