Holiday postcards from Europe
A musical look back at where we went for our holidays
Now that summer is over it is time to look back on all those holiday destinations. From Spain and Delibes Maids of Cadiz to Scotland and The Skye Boat Song, and of course the words of the national poet Robbie Burns in My Love is like a Red, Red Rose. From Ireland, where Irish Eyes are Smiling, we give you Danny Boy to Italy, where we encounter love and loss under a constant blue sky, we bid a sad farewell to Sorrento.
We take a trip to Vienna for Strauss and Lehar before returning home to roses in June, and the apple tree leaning low in Linden Lea. There is a song to suit everywhere so why not bring a postcard and see if we can match it with a song.
