Messiah
Annual performance of Handel's Messiah by Sheffield Bach Choir
For many people Christmas is not complete without attending a performance Handel's majestic oratorio Messiah. Composed in 1741 and first performed in Dublin the following year, it is one of the most popular and most frequently performed of all choral works.
Sheffield music lovers can hear a wonderfully rousing rendition by Sheffield Bach Choir each year in Sheffield's Anglican cathedral, conducted by Dr. Simon Lindley with Sally Robinson's acclaimed National Festival Orchestra. This year the choir is thrilled to be working for the first time with talented soprano Peyee Chen, and welcoming back the wonderful alto Maggie McDonald, with tenor Tim Kennedy and bass James Geidt.
