A lighthearted concert of music for wind instruments at the new multi-arts venue Ko:Host.

Music for wind instruments (Harmoniemusik) was regularly composed in the 18th and 19th centuries, and Beethoven’s Sextet and Octet are two of the finest examples of this genre. The Sextet was reviewed at its premiere as “distinguished by fine melodies and a wealth of new and surprising ideas”, and the Octet is just as lyrical. The Rondino is notable for featuring the horns as melodic instruments, with a memorable duet that closes this enjoyable work.

Programme

  • Beethoven: Rondino in E flat WoO25
  • Beethoven: Sextet in E flat Op.71
  • Beethoven: Octet in E flat Op.103
