The Storm
Ensemble 360 celebrate Beethoven's 250th anniversary with a performance of his rarely-heard string quintet.
Beethoven’s only string quintet has been nicknamed ‘The Storm’ on account of explosive outbursts that punctuate the otherwise serene atmosphere of the final movement. Beethoven’s close friend, Hummel, was hugely admired in the Viennese musical world as a pianist and improviser, and it was this exuberant Septet that cemented his reputation as a composer of the highest order.
Programme
- HUMMEL: Septet in D minor Op.74
- BEETHOVEN: String Quintet in C Op.29 The Storm
