Autumn Song Recitals: Ailsa Mainwaring
Mezzo soprano Ailsa Mainwaring studied at the Royal Academy of Music and on the prestigious opera course at the Guildhall School where she was in receipt of several scholarships. Ailsa has performed as a soloist for companies including Garsington Opera, Wexford Festival Opera, and Mid Wales Opera. Ailsa has a long-established musical connection with Sheffield through her work here with dementia and music charity Lost Chord.
Using Bach's glorious solo cantata "Vergnügte Ruh" as a starting point, this concert on the theme of Solace will also include Schubert's "An die Musik", "King David" by Herbert Howells, and Samuel Barber's 1939 setting of poems by James Joyce
