Polly, Ben and Claudia present a playful introduction to Bartók’s much-loved violin duos for 0–5-year-olds and their grown-ups.

Please bring your own teddy and welly boots!

Polly Ives, Benjamin Nabarro and Claudia Ajmone-Marsan present a playful, sensory introduction to the unique sound world of Bartók’s much-loved violin duos for 0–5-year-olds (and their music-loving adults). Discover a treasure trove of harmony and rhythmic invention, across these song and dance miniatures performed by violinists Ben and Claudia.

Described by Musical Opinion as "an outstanding artist", Benjamin Nabarro has performed worldwide as a violin soloist, director and conductor. He has performed with the BBC Symphony, BBC Scottish Symphony, English Chamber and Scottish Chamber Orchestras, and Philharmonia, among others. Since 2009, he has been first violin of Ensemble 360, and he also plays regularly as first violinist of the Nash Ensemble where he has appeared in concerts worldwide. Benjamin is violinist of the Leonore Piano Trio, together with cellist Gemma Rosefield and pianist Tim Horton (Tim is performing for us at our Family Concert on the 9th of April).

Born of Italian and Danish parentage, the violinist Claudia Ajmone-Marsan is a member of Ensemble 360. She is a regular guest with Camerata Bern, Camerata Nordica and Ensemble Modern. She served as co-principal second violin of the Philharmonia Orchestra in London under C. von Dohnanyi, principal second of the European Union Chamber Orchestra and the Kammerphilharmonie Amade, Germany.

Polly Ives is one of the UK’s leading music educationalists with a varied portfolio as a concert presenter, narrator, promoter, workshop leader, trainer and cellist. Polly presents children’s concerts in internationally renowned venues around the UK with some of the leading orchestras, ensembles and soloists. Polly regularly performs with London Philharmonic Orchestra at the Royal Festival Hall where recent highlights include Zog and The Gruffalo’s Child by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler.

With songs, dancing, listening as well as bubbles, percussion, props and informal introductions, this is a fun and informal gig for adults and their 0-5 year-old children.
