Hallam Sinfonia join forces with Sheffield-based Opera on Location to deliver a whirlwind tour of some of the finest operatic ensembles, arias and orchestral excerpts, conducted by Juliane Gallant. There will be two concerts:
The 5pm concert will include mainly popular operatic ensembles, acted out by the five Opera on Location soloists, with spoken introductions to explain how they fit into the wider stories of the opera. This will be ideal for school-age children, and will be around an hour in length.
The 7.30pm concert will be just over an hour in length, and will include arias and orchestral excerpts from:
- Fidelio (Beethoven)
- Carmen (Bizet)
- Lakmé (Delibes)
- Cavalleria Rusticana (Mascagni)
- The Magic Flute (Mozart)
- Barber of Seville (Rossini)
- Don Carlos (Verdi)
- Tannhäuser (Wagner)
The Opera on Location soloists are:
