Kate Griffin (banjo and vocals) performs for pre-crawling babies and their grown-ups.

Enjoy a concert of classical, folk, world, popular music and nursery rhymes performed by inspirational professional musicians. Relax, listen, sleep, enjoy some sensory fun with your babies. Concerts aim to revitalise and entertain grown-ups as well as give your babies a new magical musical experience. Sensory elements include sound, sight, touch, including bubbles, scarves, feathers and simple baby massage techniques for you to explore with your little one at your own pace.

Kate Griffin is a clawhammer banjo player, singer and composer emerging on the UK folk and world scene. Described as “one of the top banjo players in the country” by virtuoso Dan Walsh, her innovative banjo style combines both traditional UK and American folk, whilst also placing the banjo in a contemporary setting. In 2018 Kate formed award winning global folk collective MISHRA, alongside musical partner Ford Collier, with their debut album released autumn 2019. As of 2021 she also performs as part of critically acclaimed transatlantic neo-folk band THE MAGPIES. Kate is a fellow of international music exchange programme MAKING TRACKS 2020 with plans for future international collaboration, recently receiving a grant from EFDSS to explore collaboration with a Mozambique artist.

We’re delighted to be partnering with the University of Leeds who will be helping us to evaluate the impact of Concerteenies’ Relaxation Concerts. We will be looking for adults to take part who are willing to attend our next series of performances and to take part in the data collection (this may involve being included in observations, completing some questionnaires or talking to a member of the research team).

As a result of this partnership, we’re able to offer a 25% discount on 5 adult tickets per concert. We encourage you to attend all six concerts and take part in the research, but this is not obligatory. If you or anyone you know might be interested, please email Karen Burland (k.burland@leeds.ac.uk) stating how many tickets you would like and which dates and times you would like to attend by the 4th of February and names will be selected randomly by 11th February! We will then send you the discount code to use when booking your tickets.
