Adult Beginner's Violin Group: first session
Tuition and group music-making sessions for adult beginner violin players
Have you picked up the violin in the last year or two and need some guidance to make further progress? Perhaps you are having lessons but want to get together with other players to make music in a group?
In these weekly sessions, you will learn to play melodies with piano accompaniment, and develop your ensemble skills by playing duets, trios and quartets together. There will be some tuition in music theory, and technical exercises to help with intonation and improve tone, and there will be plenty of help with fingering, bowing, note-finding and working out rhythms, so that you can enjoy playing music together. The sessions will be relaxed, with no pressure to 'get it all right', and definitely no need to worry about playing 'wrong' notes! You will make steady progress and become a more confident player.
This group is aimed at adult violin players, approximately Grade 1-3.
Please note: the sessions are not suitable for absolute beginners. Violinists should be reasonably confident with bow-hold and finger spacings in first position, and be able to read music at a basic level.
