Join Charlie on his journey through song from classics to popular film music

Hi, I’m Charlie. I’m a current Choral Scholar at Wakefield Cathedral. I have been singing for almost a decade and have served at Wakefield Cathedral for nearly 6 of those years. However, my journey did not start in Wakefield, it started in North Elmsall. For years, I had asked to join the choir at St Margaret’s, but 6-year-old me was unaware of the journey I was about to begin. With the encouragement of the church, I achieved my RSCM bronze, silver, and gold award by the age of 10 and was encouraged to move to Wakefield. From there, I was able to achieve some of my childhood dreams which included: reaching the BBC Young Chorister of The Year Finals 2 years in a row and being part of ‘The Choristers’ led by my childhood hero, Aled Jones. I am now a member of Tallis Consort, led by my singing teacher Chris Why, and occasionally return to St Margaret’s to play the organ now and then.
