Lunchtime recital
A programme of German Romantic music
Lucy Phillips and Andrew Marples perform a programme of 19th-century music for violin and piano, as part of Chesterfield Library's popular Saturday lunchtime series.
Come along and enjoy the music of three friends: Brahms' dramatic Scherzo in C minor was his contribution to the 'F-A-E' sonata, a piece dedicated to the violinist Joseph Joachim, who gave the first performance accompanied by Clara Schumann on the piano. Clara's Three Romances for Violin and Piano were also dedicated to Joachim.
The concert will end with Mendelssohn's Sonata in F major, a work which wasn't published during his lifetime and was only rediscovered in 1953.
Entry to the concert is free with a retiring collection to help cover costs. Doors open at 11am.
