SYO Film Music Community Orchestra Day
Inviting local musicians, students in schools and universities, teachers, families and alumni to join Sheffield Youth Orchestra for a FREE inspirational day of music making.
Calling all Sheffield (and surrounding area) musicians both young and old! We are delighted to announce the next installment of our community day series - rehearsing and performing epic orchestral film and contemporary scores under the baton of our new conductor, River Edis-Smith.
All ages and backgrounds are welcome, but we strongly recommend ABRSM Grade 5 and above, (or with similiar experience without the equivalent grading) for full-day participants.
NEW FOR 2023: Beginner instrumentalists are invited to join the sound for a shortened rehearsal and concert on the day! For the part-day experience, there will be adapted parts for Hovercraft and Pirates of the Carribean and are suited for ABRSM Grade 1-4 players.
There will be an free informal performance at 4:15pm for friends and families to attend at Victoria Hall.
A free light lunch buffet and refreshments will be provided throughout the day for full-day participants.
The day is free to attend for all players and audience members, however we welcome any donations for the running of the day. Donation buckets will be placed at the end of the concert.

It is vital to sign up as we need to know numbers for the day. We are looking for players in all sections of the orchestra, however places are offered on a first come first serve basis. Some instrument groups will fill-up quicker than others. Sign up now to avoid disappointment.
