SUMMARY:Hidden Track – Contemporary Classical Music Night
DESCRIPTION:We are a monthly series dedicated to promoting and showcasing contemporary classical music in the heart of Sheffield. \nWe’ll be hosting Hidden Track on the first Monday of every month at The Beaten Track. \nEntry is free. Open to performers\, composers\, and appreciators of all kinds. \nHow it works: \nEvery Hidden Track night will have two halves. The first half will be programmed performances. The second half will be experimental group improvisation. There will be a short break in between – do take advantage of the delicious drinks on offer from The Beaten Track! \nIf you would like to perform or have your piece performed during the first half\, please email us at hiddentracksheff@gmail.com. We are looking specifically for post-1960s compositions\, including your own works. This is a chance to try out new works in a relaxed and supportive environment. \nThe second half is a chance for musicians to experiment and create new sounds and timbres together. This jam session is for both experienced and new improvisers alike\, and your hosts will guide the session. Explorations of unconventional instrumentations and styles are welcome! \nIf you have no desire to perform or jam\, you are very welcome to come along and listen.

SUMMARY:"Let Christmas begin" - Albion's Festive Concert
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to a celebration of Midwinter\, Advent\, and Christmas with our own unique festive choral music. \nOver the years\, many have said that it would not be Christmas without Albion – and so here we are to bring sparkles and songs of delight to the chill of wintry darkness. \nFestive favourites will include Away in a Manger\, O Holy Night\, and our famous version of DING DONG MERRILY ON HIGH\, where the audience is challenged not to clap too soon… \nAs well as magical\, hypnotic versions of THE CASTLETON CAROL and the Coventry Carol\, we’ll also have brand-new music for you – especially created by us for this occasion. I am working on it right now and I hope you will love it. \nWe invite you all to Pay What You Want — you can pay as little as you like to secure your place\, knowing that you’ll be equally welcome whatever that amount is. Bring your friends or family\, and we’ll make it a special gathering in the heart of our community. \nSeating is not reserved\, so you can choose where you would like to be as we aim to fill this special space with music. Bring as many people as you wish in your group (do tell friends and family!). You just need to reserve the right number of tickets when booking\, and pay any amount you wish. You can contact us any time by emailing: albion@albionchoir.org.uk. \nWe so look forward to sharing this concert with you and getting the festive season off to a memorable start. \nConcert duration is about 2 hours including an interval. \n“The singers lull you into a place of timelessness\, and true beauty\, in which just for a moment you can glimpse eternity” – audience member\, Derbyshire\, 2022 \n“The choir wears the beauty of its singing lightly – so you never feel like it’s too much\, and sometimes find yourself on the edge of tears of joy” – audience member\, Sheffield\, autumn 2023 \n“I came not knowing what to expect – and left feeling a lot lighter\, and a devoted fan of this special little group. Albion are a choir in a million” – audience member\, Framlingham\, spring 2024

SUMMARY:Pull Out All the Stops - Organ Recital by Adam Heron (Coventry Cathedral)
DESCRIPTION:Organ Recital given by Adam Heron (organ scholar\, Coventry Cathedral) in aid of the organ restoration fund\nWe’re delighted to welcome Adam back to St. Augustine’s for a varied programme of organ solos\, bringing out the full expressive range of this magnificent organ. \nAdam is from Durham and started piano lessons at an early age\, later learning to play the organ. From 2017-2022 he studied engineering at the University of Sheffield\, and while at Sheffield\, he used the St Augustine’s organ for practice\, and took part in several of our recitals. In September 2025 he started studying for the MMus degree at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire\, alongside which he has been appointed to the position of Organ Scholar at Coventry Cathedral. \nAdam says “I would not be where I am now in terms of my organ playing without the church’s kindness and trust in allowing me to practice on the organ while I was in Sheffield.” \nThe fine 3-manual pipe organ at St. Augustine’s was built in 1899 by Sheffield organ builder Albert Keates\, and it now needs a full rebuild at a cost of around £150\,000. For more details about the organ see https://organ91.wordpress.com/

SUMMARY:Hidden Track - Contemporary Classical Music Night
DESCRIPTION:We are a monthly series dedicated to promoting and showcasing contemporary classical music in the heart of Sheffield. \nWe’ll be hosting Hidden Track on the first Tuesday of every month\, downstairs at The Beaten Track.
