SUMMARY:Come and Sing Brahms German Requiem with Sheffield Philharmonic Chorus
DESCRIPTION:Saturday 17th October 2026\, Upper Chapel\, Norfolk Street\, Sheffield\n  \nJoin around 200 singers for a memorable day exploring one of the great choral masterpieces. Experience the richness\, warmth and humanity of Brahms’ A German Requiem in a welcoming\, high-quality musical environment\, led by Music Director Darius Battiwalla. We’ll rehearse throughout the day with Brahms’ own four-hand piano accompaniment\, before sharing an informal performance at 6pm for family and friends. A rare opportunity to experience this much-loved work in a fresh and intimate way. \nThe  workshop will be led by our fantastic Musical Director Darius Battiwalla. Darius has conducted choral performances with leading orchestras including the Halle\, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic and Manchester Camerata\, and he has prepared the Chorus for appearances at the Proms and for recordings with the BBC Philharmonic for Chandos. He has worked as guest chorusmaster or conductor with choirs such as Leeds Philharmonic Chorus\, Huddersfield Choral Society\, CBSO chorus and Netherlands Radio Choir.  Despite this impressive record he is a very friendly conductor\, encouragingly supportive and challenging in equal measure – qualities that were much in evidence at our previous Come and Sing events. \nSoloists: Ruby Lewin – soprano; Teyfik Kamal – baritone \nAccompaniment: Rachel Fright and Jonathan Gooing \n \n\n10:00 Registration\n10:30 – 13:00 Morning session\n13:00 – 14:00 Lunch break\n14:00 – 16:30 Afternoon session\n18:00 Free performance* for family & friends (approx. 80 mins)\n\nTickets £25 for singing visitors\, including hire score.
