Emily Doreen Atkinson
Emily Doreen Atkinson is an engaging and versatile lyric soprano, emerging into the classical music industry.
Emily is a lyric soprano from Sheffield, with a wide array of performance experience across disciplines. Recently, she made her professional opera debut as principal chorus in Opera on Location's production of Verdi's A Masked Ball. Further recent performances include Hänsel und Gretel and Dialogues of the Carmelites at RWCMD, The Enchanted Pig (Mab) and the world premiere of Arc 23 (Doctor Fischer) with Leeds Youth Opera. Furthermore, scenes roles have included Frasquita (Carmen), Mrs Fiorentino (Street Scene), and First Lady (Die Zauberflöte). Soon, she performs as Donna Elvira in York Opera's Mozart Highlights.
As an in demand recitalist, Emily has entertained across Sheffield and beyond, offering a mix of formal and informal events, each programmed individually. She offers everything from classical music's highlights, opera, musical theatre, and jazz to niche experiences such as a recent recital, which was solely based on a repertoire based in Yorkshire. She's a sought after oratorio singer, with recent soloist performances including Schubert's Mass in G with the Pocklington Singers and Vivaldi's Gloria with Waldershelf Singers. More engagements include RWCMD Opera Gala under Carlo Rizzi, Songs of Friendship for BBC CSOTW, and Leeds Youth Opera 50th Anniversary. Additionally, she's held choral scholar positions at Yorkshire Philharmonic Choir and Cardiff Oratory.
Training includes the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, Leeds Conservatoire, and Universität Mozarteum Salzburg. Moreover, music work has included Musical Director of Masbrough Community Choir, opera outreach with Opera on Location, and singing tuition.
Emily is available for bookings from choral societies, choirs, and orchestras. Additionally, she is open to enquiries for events. She's looking forward to collaborating with more musicians in Sheffield.
