Loxley Silver Band

Loxley Silver Band, established 1889, is a traditional brass band based in Sheffield. Rehearsals are twice a week, Mondays and Thursdays between 7:45 and 9:30pm at Stanwood Methodist Church, Stannington.

Loxley Silver Band play various local events such as garden parties, concerts, galas and fundraisers throughout the year. During December the band play local Sheffield carols at a variety of venues and public houses.

The band has recently returned to contesting after a break of several years. The highlight of the contesting calendar is the annual Yorkshire Brass Band Championships. Brass bands are organised into sections (Fourth, Third, Second, First and Championship), very similar to footballs leagues, with winning bands gaining promotion. In March 2017, Loxley Silver band were extremely delighted in achieving third place in the Fourth Section and hope to continue building on this success.

Loxley Silver Band always welcomes any brass band instrument players to come along and join us. Those who have just started to learn, or wanting to re-start’, may like to consider joining our Training Band or 'mature' brass instrument players may wish to join our Veterans band who take a more leisurely approach to brass banding.

If would like to join a very friendly, sociable, entertaining and advancing band then please get in touch. Not owning an instrument is no excuse either, as we have a variety of spare instruments for you to borrow. Please drop us a note to admin 'at' loxleysilverband.org.uk or drop in to see us at one of our rehearsals.
