Peter Fagerlind

Peter Fagerlind is a versatile pianist whose repertoire ranges all the way from Bach to Burt Bacharach. He has become well-known for mixing classical and other genres in the one concert.

He was born and grew up in Australia and is a classically trained pianist who took private lessons for many years from the late renowned piano teacher Doris Armitstead in Sydney. Peter moved to Sheffield in 2000 to live with his husband Malcolm T. Holmes.

Apart from his classical recitals and concerts, he has many years experience playing the piano for weddings and other special occasions in hotels, restaurants and wine bars in Sydney and in Sheffield.

Peter also supports many charities through his charity concerts that sometimes include other soloists and singers.

Peter is a member of the Purple Cats Community Choir and the Sheffield Piano Club.

He has a Master of Arts in German from the University of Sydney and a Bachelor of Arts in German, French and Japanese.

Peter and Malcolm support LGBTI+ rights. He is a great supporter of the Sheffield LGBTI+ community and Pride Sheffield. His drag alter ego Petals Petrovsky has appeared as the co-host on the Main Stage at Pride Sheffield and has also played the piano, sung and performed to raise money for local LGBTI+ charity SAYiT.

Peter is honoured and proud to be a Trustee of Classical Sheffield and will be doing his utmost to help promote classical music to people in Sheffield and in particular to people who have not had much exposure to classical music.
