Classical Sheffield seeks a Marketing Officer for the 2019 Classical Weekend festival

Classical Sheffield seeks a creative and experienced Marketing Officer to deliver a marketing campaign for its third Classical Weekend festival in March 2019.

The third Classical Weekend will engage and develop audiences in a wide range of high-quality classical music in at least seven venues in and around Sheffield city centre and enable several new commissions. The festival will be programmed, structured and marketed to be accessible and appealing to audiences who rarely experience classical music.

There will be two days of free pop-up music in the Winter Garden running alongside up to 25 paid-for concerts in other venues, which will vary in length from 20 minutes to one hour, enabling audiences to experience choral, orchestral, chamber and culturally diverse music.

The March 2019 Classical Weekend will build on the successes of October 2015 and March 2017, bringing together instrumentalists, singers and audiences across the city for an intensive, celebratory and adventurous weekend of classical music. Professional musicians and organisations will collaborate with musicians from Sheffield’s young and thriving voluntary music sectors. This festival aims to increase the presence of both young and culturally diverse musicians.

The responsibility of the Marketing Officer will be to communicate these aims, deliver a marketing campaign to meet ticket sales targets, communicate the schedule of free events alongside this, generate coverage across local and national media channels, and document the festival.

A fee of £6,000 including travel and admin, but excluding phone expenses, is available to deliver the brief - to be paid in monthly instalments from 30 September 2018 to 31 March 2019, subject to agreement.

To apply, please send a completed Application Form; a letter (maximum 2 A4 sides) explaining how you fulfil the Person Specification and meet the requirements of the role, giving relevant examples; an up-to-date CV; and an Equal Opportunities Monitoring Form, to the Classical Sheffield Administrator Steve Terry: a.classicalsheffield [ @ ]

All the documents are available here.

Deadline for applications: 12 noon on Wednesday 1 August. Interviews will take place in Sheffield on Tuesday 14 August, and the role will begin in August / early September. If you would like more information about the role or have any questions, please contact Steve as above.
