News
Join us to hear our exciting festival plans!

We are very happy to announce that the date has been set for Classical Weekend 2021! The next weekend festival will run from Friday 5 - Sunday 7 March 2021.You are invited to join us for a special launch event on Friday 28 February, 6.00 - 8.00pm at the Montgomery Theatre.

This launch event is a chance for Classical Sheffield members to find out more about our exciting plans for the next Classical Weekend and for us to hear your ideas and questions. We would like to encourage all members wishing to be involved in the festival to send a representative along to this event to express your interest and to ensure you are up-to-date with our plans. We are also delighted that Theresa Keogh, new director of the Montgomery, will speak to us about their plans for redeveloping the building, making it fully accessible, and the wide variety of spaces they currently have on offer for groups to use at very reasonable rates.

There will also be the opportunity for any interested members to look around the building.Over the past three weekend festivals, we have been glad to see Classical Sheffield members coming together to produce some unforgettable collaborative performances, including partnerships with the city’s young musicians. This joint music-making epitomises what Classical Sheffield is all about and has inspired us to make ‘Collaboration’ the theme of the 2021 Classical Weekend.

In light of this, the launch event on Friday 28 February also acts as a great opportunity for you all to come together, make some new connections and spark some ideas for possible collaborative performances. We will also be asking representatives for Sheffield’s young musicians to be at the event, for those of you interested in working with children and young people.

Please let us know if you are able to attend by contacting Katie at classicalsheffieldcoordinator@gmail.com, by Monday 24 February (P.S. please note that the launch will be taking place on the first floor of the Montgomery and, as yet, there is no step-free access - sorry for any inconvenience this may cause). We really look forward to welcoming you on 28 February and sharing our exciting plans with you all.
