Sheffield Bach Choir
Sheffield Bach Choir is one of the longest-established choirs in Sheffield, presenting five or six super concerts each year – and if you love choral music, especially Bach and Handel, look no further! Every year we perform one of Bach’s three great works (B Minor Mass, St Matthew Passion, St John Passion) along with Handel’s Messiah, plus other choral works in St John’s Ranmoor, St Mark’s in Broomhill and the fantastic Cutler’s Hall (Messiah). Founded in 1950, over the years the choir has built a reputation for musical excellence; our Conductor Philip Collin is also the Director of Music at St John’s Ranmoor.
Alongside professional soloists, the choir performs with the highly regarded professional players of the National Festival Orchestra. The ‘Come and Sing Messiah’ is very popular, and the growing membership enjoys social events such as ‘bring a dish’ buffets, carol singing and the annual President’s celebration dinner.
Join Us! We are always happy to welcome new members from all voice parts. Come and try us out before joining via a very short audition that couldn’t be simpler. We rehearse every Monday from 19.30 to 21.30 at Cemetery Road Baptist Church, Sheffield, and visitors are always welcome if you want to just have a nosy before deciding.
