Steel City Choristers is an independent and innovative choir of children and adults in the cathedral tradition. We make high-quality sacred choral music more accessible and relevant, so that more people can experience its beauty and enjoy its benefits. We collaborate with a wide range of partners, including churches of many denominations, social inclusion charities and secular organisations.
The choir includes around 20 child choristers from around Sheffield, and 12 adult “clerks” singing alto, tenor and bass parts. Children are welcome to audition from year 2 upwards, and will usually spend some time in the junior section before becoming full choristers. The choir sings around 40 engagements per year, including a mixture of church services, concerts and other events, as well as undertaking domestic and international tours from time to time.
