David Clover Singers’ Platform

The Singers’ Platform is the first of two consecutive weekends organised by the David Clover Festival of Singing which has been running for over forty years and is based in Sheffield. The Singers’ Platform attracts performers from throughout the UK and abroad.
The young performers are students from conservatoires and university departments of music, would-be professional singers at the start of their careers. They compete for substantial prizes in classes and heats over three days in a whole variety of Classical genres – including opera, oratorio, Mozart, French, German and British song, – as well as presenting their own recital programmes. Performances are judged by professional adjudicators who deliver their assessments publicly.
Everything builds to a wonderful climax – the Finals Evening – when singers repeat outstanding performances that have particularly impressed the adjudicators. All performances are impressive, but Saturday Finals Evening at St Andrew’s is an evening not to be missed by Sheffield audiences. Performers are frequently talent spotted by local musical directors, and receive offers to sing in oratorios or concerts over the coming months as a result.
