CLASSICAL WEEKEND 2025 – TRACKS Live

22nd March 2025 at 2:30 pm - 4:00 pm
Free

Tracks have been working in different settings to inspire and create the young musicians of Sheffield. From DJing to rap, piano skills to production we are excited to bring you a taste of Sheffield’s young talent to Orchard Square as part of the Classical Weekend 2025.  Expect to hear live instruments, classical inspired beats and an exploration of how some of the next generation are approaching the sounds of orchestral instruments.

TRACKS is dedicated to inspiring and nurturing the next generation of musicians in Sheffield, working across diverse settings to showcase the city’s vibrant young talent. From DJing and rap to piano skills and music production, TRACKS offers a platform for creative exploration and collaboration. Expect live performances featuring classical-inspired beats, innovative approaches to orchestral instruments, and a fusion of musical influences from across Sheffield’s communities.

The project collaborates with local producers and artists, including cellist and project lead Lucy Revis and composer Zeb Budworth. Lucy, an accomplished educator and session musician, is the Director of Sheffield Music School and TRACKS. She has worked with renowned artists like Reverend and the Makers, Giggs, and Jon Boden, alongside her acclaimed band Before Breakfast, known for their unique sound heard through radio play, tours, and festival appearances, including Tramlines’ main stage.

Zeb Budworth, a composer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist, specializes in crafting music for film and advertising. His work has featured in award-winning campaigns for global brands like Sainsbury’s and Starbucks. In 2022, Zeb composed the score for Meet Me In The Bathroom, a critically acclaimed documentary exploring New York City’s early 2000s music scene.

Together, TRACKS and its collaborators are shaping Sheffield’s musical landscape, offering young people opportunities to engage with and contribute to the city’s rich artistic heritage whilst exploring the city’s classical scene and how to be inspired by it.

We extend our thanks to the brilliant team behind the Festival of the Outdoors, who are sponsoring all of our Free activity throughout the festival weekend. We are thrilled that the Classical Weekend can take place as part of the month-long activities celebrating what it means to be The Outdoor City.
