Brigantes Spanish Flair

RIMSKY-KORSAKOV Capriccio Espagnol
PROKOFIEV Violin Concerto No. 2
interval
DE FALLA The Three-Cornered Hat (complete)
Step into a musical time machine and explore how great composers have shaped the sounds we hear today. Each concert in our new season begins in a different year, then travels across the centuries to reveal how familiar ideas – beautiful melodies, vivid storytelling, nature, memory and national character – have been reimagined again and again.
Our next stop is 1887, where Rimsky-Korsakov paints a dazzling musical picture of Spain. From there, Spanish rhythms and colour inspire very different responses – from Prokofiev’s expressive violin writing to the vibrant storytelling of Falla’s Three-Cornered Hat. It’s a programme full of energy, atmosphere, (castanets), and unmistakable character!
