Come and Sing… the Pirates of Penzance! Chorus Rehearsals Open to All

Would you like to sing in the chorus or a principal role in a production of ‘The Pirates of Penzance’?
“Tarantara, tarantara!”
Come and sing at the first rehearsal of Grenoside and Birley Carr Players’ fresh new season, which begins with Gilbert & Sullivan’s best-loved operetta.
Grenoside and Birley Carr Players are putting on their eighth production of ‘The Pirates of Penzance’ in over 60 years and you are invited to take part in the next, which will be performed in March 2026. Rehearsals are open to all whether you’re well-acquainted with the work or are just curious, are a seasoned singer, or have long wanted to sing in an operetta but never have – you’ll be very welcome.
Members of the chorus can enjoy being part of a crew of poetry-loving pirates, one in a herd of sheepish policemen, or a mischievous daughter of a very Modern Major General!
Join rehearsals and take part in our next production
Come along to our early rehearsals of the chorus music where we will begin learning the music together. Rehearsals are open to everyone, of all ages, whether experienced singers and performers or not, and there are no auditions to join the chorus. It’s not necessary to be able to read music as everyone will learn the chorus music together in rehearsals and spare scores are provided.
If you’d like to be involved in putting on a fully-staged light opera in other ways then there are many backstage roles, including:
- lighting,
- costumes,
- technical stage work,
- props,
- and more.
