Piano Masterclass with Benjamin Frith

Following the success of last year’s masterclass, we are delighted to invite Benjamin Frith back to SMA to work with our young pianists!
Born in South Yorkshire, Benjamin was encouraged to pursue a musical career when he won the Dudley National Piano Competition at age 14. He has since gone on to perform with some of the world’s leading orchestras – including the Berlin Symphony, and BBC Philharmonic – and has worked with esteemed conductors across the globe.
Benjamin achieved international recognition by sharing top prize in the 1986 Busoni International Piano Competition, and 1st prize in the 1989 Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Masters Competition. He has recorded 17 solo discs and performed widely as a soloist and chamber musician – a passion that led him to join the Gould Piano Trio in 1998.
He currently teaches at the Royal Northern College of Music, Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, and Chetham’s School of Music.
