Sheffield Showcase 2023

Returning for its third annual event in 2023, the Sheffield Showcase is a collaborative event from over a dozen arts and culture groups based in the city. Three days of activity at various locations across Sheffield, it'll take place over the first weekend of September.

From 1 to 3 September 2023, the event will showcase the variety of cultural activity that takes place in the city. It'll feature film screenings, music performances, art exhibits, family-friendly workshops, and more.

Classical Sheffield at Sheffield Showcase - Saturday 2nd September

Classical Sheffield presents Pop Up Concerts in the Central Library.

Featuring:
11am – Lydian Singers performing a selection of Byrd and Weelkes (the 400th anniversary of their deaths).

11:30am – Kristýna Farag performing Partita for solo flute by J.S Bach and three short pieces from Les Chants de Nectaire by French composer Charles Koechlin.

12pm – Westside Singers performing a selection of songs including America, Now the Carnival is Over (Seekers), Mad World (Tears for Fears), Purcell's Thou Knowest Lord (from funeral music for Queen Mary).

12:30pm – Hailu Ni, soprano vocalist, accompanied by Sitong Ye will be performing a selection of pieces including Schwanengesang (Swan Song), D. 957 No. 4, Ständchen and Brian Wilshere's Fire and Ice.

1pm – Brian Wilshere performing a selection of self-composed pieces alongside violinist Rob Jourdain.
