Music in the Round

Get closer to the music

Experience high-quality live music from leading classical, jazz, folk and world musicians with Music in the Round.

Most of our concerts are presented in the unique setting of our home, Sheffield's Crucible Studio, where the audience surrounds the performers on all sides. Intimate yet relaxed, it's a space where your seat is close to the musicians so you can feel their energy, sense their excitement and hear their every note.

You don't need to know anything about music to enjoy our concerts, and there's no dress code. We just have an open invitation for everyone, of all ages and all musical tastes, to come and join us.

Our resident group Ensemble 360, comprising 11 of the country’s finest chamber musicians, is at the heart of our autumn and spring concert seasons, and the annual nine-day Sheffield Chamber Music Festival each May in the Crucible Studio. Singer-in-Residence, the acclaimed baritone, Roderick Williams, is also a regular performer in our concert programmes.

We also have an innovative Learning & Participation programme, committed to delivering activities for all ages and levels of ability. This includes a series of hugely popular interactive family concerts for 3 – 8-year-olds based on story books, with specially commissioned music by our Children’s Composer-in-Residence, Paul Rissmann.
