Are you in the MOOD for MUSIC?
Concert for a warm summer evening, featuring a world premiere
How many viola players does it take to compose a piano concerto? The answer is just one, and that one is Sheffield's Matthew Leese, who plays viola in the Endcliffe Orchestra and was a runner-up in the first Janet Altman Composing Competition in 2016.
Matthew's aim was to write a concerto that would be playable by every self-respecting amateur pianist, and he has fulfilled this brief to the full with a joyful, uplifting and melodious concerto. Matthew will also be the soloist tonight.
The rest of the programme captures every nuance of mood, from dreamy and contemplative to passionate and hot, of a fine summer's evening.
