The Sheffield Music Academy and Sheffield Chamber Choir join to perform one of the greatest choral works of all time

Excellent young players from the Sheffield Music Academy join with professionals to provide the orchestra for this performance of Messiah by Sheffield Chamber Choir, and members of Bel Canto Choir, whose performance with the Academy strings last Saturday was snowed off after a fine rehearsal less than an hour before the concert. This cancellation was a particular disappointment to the young players, who get so much out of such a collaboration, and we hope they will have a full cathedral when they get to play in front of an audience on Friday.

The fine line up of soloists is: Clare Wheat (Sop), Joanna Gamble (Alto), David Watkin-Holmes (Tenor) and Peter Taylor (Bass).

The voices of these two choirs directed by Robert Webb, accompanied by the Academy Strings, will sound stunning in the glorious surroundings and acoustics of St Marie's Cathedral, and will produce a performance which is sure to be one of the highlights of the music-making going on in Sheffield this March.
