English Spring
The Brigantes play English string music for Spring featuring Purcell, Delius, Elgar and Holst
The Brigantes (Brig-ant-ez) are a new professional orchestra for Yorkshire presenting their inaugural concert of English string music under their founder and music director, Quentin Clare.
Elgar's gentle Serenade and Delius' Two Watercolours are both evocative of a Spring night. Holst and Warlock's suites of joyful dance music are virtuosic and exciting (listen out for 'Greensleeves' creeping into the finale of the Holst!). You can also hear Purcell's piquant Three Fantazias along with the music for 'Abdelazer' (which includes the theme Benjamin Britten used for his 'Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra').
Please note: tickets are also available to buy (cash only) on the door
