An Invitation to the Dance
Hallam Sinfonia's 50th anniversary season continues with this programme of symphonic dance music, with their former principal conductor
Natalia Luis-Bassa returns to conduct Hallam Sinfonia in a concert of music based on symphonic dances. Rachmaninov's Symphonic Dances and Bernstein's Symphonic Dances from West Side Story are two substantial and contrasting takes on this form of music, flanked by Berlioz's orchestration of Weber's Invitation to the Dance, and Marquez's Danzon no. 2.
