West Riding Ensemble

The West Riding Ensemble is a new, professional string chamber group, based in Sheffield. It seeks to give concerts to the highest possible standard in the city and surrounding region. It embeds two innovative features: David Milsom’s expertise not only as a player but also as an internationally-known scholar of string performance styles, and also openings for some of his gifted young students to make music with him in a professional context.

The ensemble has three connected strands: a platform for professional chamber music activity of exciting repertoire, a flexible group to play for choirs and other organisations in need of instrumental accompaniment, and as a smaller group to undertake shorter ‘pop up’ performances in a range of Sheffield’s many music venues.
