Performers from the David Clover Festival of Singing

Part of the Classical Sheffield Weekend 2023

The David Clover Festival of Singing, named in memory of a charismatic Music Adviser to Sheffield City Education Department, is the only Music Festival in the UK devoted wholly to singing. It is now in its forty-third year.

The Festival is committed to inspiring, encouraging, supporting and guiding amateur Classical singing in all its forms. It holds two major ‘weekends’ each year which provide unique performance opportunities to singers.

The first, the Singers’ Platform (26th – 28th January 2023), invites would-be professionals at the start of their careers to compete for substantial prizes, and attracts performers from across the UK and beyond.

The second, the David Clover Festival of Singing Weekend (3rd – 5th February 2023) involves mainly local performers, aged 9-90, who compete in many different classes and categories with songs from the shows, English, French, German songs, arias, oratorio …

Professional adjudicators give spoken and written reports on all performances. Supportive accompanists are provided for everyone.

The singers performing on Saturday 18th March, for Classical Sheffield’s 10th Anniversary Classical Weekend Festival, will be chosen from the prize winners who will have repeated their performance on one or other of the Finals Evenings. This is a unique opportunity to be able to see some remarkable talent.
