An afternoon recital on the theme of portrayals of figures from Greek legends.

Adrian combines his position as Principal Oboe of the Royal Scottish National Orchestra with his role in Ensemble 360. A captivating musician, he is one of the original members of Ensemble 360, and lived in Sheffield for many years with his wife and young family. He likes to return whenever possible!

Adrian will introduce his recital and its theme of modern portrayals of figures from Greek legends. Featuring Musgrave’s exquisitely beautiful dedication to the grieving Queen Niobe, the concert also includes Britten’s exploration of the great Roman poet, Ovid.

Film extra!

Today’s concert also includes an opportunity for all smartphone and tablet owners to view Katie Goodwin’s Six Metamorphoses after Ovid film animation (link to: http://www.katiegoodwin.com/sixmeta/) (commissioned by Music in the Round in 2013) while listening to Adrian perform the piece. Visit http://musicintheround.co.uk/e... the coming weeks to download the video in advance of the performance and watch it while Adrian plays!
